About Jentry Petzold

For more than 20 years, I worked in the salon.

I’ve been a stylist.
I’ve been a salon owner.
I’ve built teams, hired and fired people, managed personalities, and tried to hold everything together while still serving clients.

So when I talk about leadership, culture, and emotional intelligence in salons… I’m not speaking from theory.

I’ve lived it.

The Problem I Saw in Our Industry

Most people in the beauty industry are incredibly talented.

But talent alone doesn’t build a healthy business.

What I kept seeing... in my own salons and others... was the same pattern:

Great stylists…
Great barbers…
Great artists…

But constant tension between people.

Miscommunication.
Unspoken expectations.
Passive-aggressive behavior.
Leaders avoiding hard conversations.
Owners feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

And eventually, the culture in the shop starts affecting everyone and everything.

The team feels it.
The clients feel it.
And the owner ends up carrying the emotional weight of the entire business.

What I realized over time was simple:

Most salons don’t struggle because of talent.
They struggle because of leadership and culture.

And nobody teaches that.

What Changed My Direction

As I began studying leadership, emotional intelligence, and team dynamics, something started to click.

When leaders grow in emotional intelligence, everything changes.

Communication improves.
Conflict becomes productive instead of destructive.
Expectations become clear.
Teams become healthier.

And the salon begins to feel completely different.

Clients notice it.
Staff notice it.
And the owner can finally lead instead of constantly reacting.

That realization completely changed how I approached business.

The Work I Do Today

Today I work with salon and barbershop owners who want to build stronger teams and healthier culture inside their businesses.

Through coaching and training, I help owners develop the leadership skills and culture systems that allow their teams to thrive.

My focus is simple:

Helping salon owners turn emotionally chaotic teams into emotionally intelligent teams.

Because when the culture improves, everything improves.

The team communicates better.
Clients enjoy the environment more.
And the business becomes far more sustainable.

A Personal Note

My work is also deeply shaped by my faith and personal values.

I believe leadership should be grounded in integrity, humility, and genuine care for people.

That perspective influences how I coach and how I approach business... but my goal is always practical: helping owners build healthier teams and stronger businesses.

If You're Ready to Strengthen Your Salon Culture

If you're a salon or barbershop owner who wants to improve communication, reduce team drama, and lead your business with more confidence, I’d love to talk with you.
